Waterproof connector material selection

The connector's environment affects the strength, appearance, color and performance of the connector. The following are some of the guidance on different types of materials:

Thermoplastic material

• ABS: economic, medical grade thermoplastic materials that can withstand the gamma ray and electron ray disinfection, is commonly used in medical devices. ABS is a kind of amorphous amorphous material with good physical properties and high chemical resistance.

- Polyoxymethylene (POM), known as the "super steel" or "steel", rugged, lightweight and economical good material, widely used in various types of chemical and mechanical components. It has high strength, good rigidity, wear resistance, high toughness and can be reused in a wide temperature range.

Polyamide (nylon): very good wear resistance, good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, low gas permeability and good chemical resistance.

• PEEK peek: high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and fatigue resistance of engineering thermoplastics, excellent mechanical properties and electrical conductivity.

• polycarbonate (PC): with a certain degree of chemical resistance, can withstand disinfection. Commonly used in medical devices, has a good impact resistance and excellent dimensional stability, because the material is transparent, and has good optical properties.

Polyethylene (PE): low cost, resistant to chemical corrosion of thermoplastic materials, opaque, reasonable temperature resistance.

Polypropylene (PP): excellent general materials, a variety of chemicals, including solvents, such as a strong corrosion resistance. Generally, polypropylene has a certain ability to resist cracks caused by environmental stresses, so it can be exposed to harsh environments.

• polysulfone (PSF or PSU): high strength and good resistance to chemical corrosion of hard materials, and other thermoplastic materials, can be repeated disinfection. It has high hydrolysis stability, so it is often used in the medical industry which needs high pressure cooking and steam sterilization

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS): as an advanced engineering plastics, PPS has a wide range of chemical resistance.

Fluoropolymer

• PTFE PTFE: in addition to a number of liquid metals, sodium hydroxide, fluoride and some fluoride, can withstand the corrosion of almost all other chemicals and solvents. PTFE has excellent chemical resistance and high temperature stability.

Two - PVDF polyvinylidene fluoride: physical and chemical properties of balanced solid thermoplastic material, in all kinds of applications have demonstrated high performance, good mechanical strength and toughness, and has wide applicable temperature range.

alloy

Aluminum: light weight, can be used to improve the durability of the surface through the use of hard anodizing. Non toxic, non-magnetic, non sparking, and has a high strength to weight ratio.

Chrome plated brass: solid metal material, beautiful appearance, excellent pressure resistance and high temperature resistance.

• Die-cast Zinc die cast zinc: durable, light weight (20% lower density than brass), able to withstand high pressure and high temperature.

• Stainless Steel stainless steel: provide excellent rust resistance, commonly used in connector components such as valve spring
